How to style a phone case (yes, that's a real thing).

Stylists have rules for bags, belts and jewellery. The phone gets none, despite being more visible than all three. Here are ours, learned from designing accessories people photograph constantly.

Rule one: the case is an accent, not the whole look. Treat it like a statement earring. Loud case, quiet outfit; quiet case, loud outfit. A zebra or pop-art lips case sings against neutral tailoring and fights against a busy print. A latte or celestial case does the opposite — it lifts a bold outfit without competing.

Rule two: match the metal, match the mood. If your jewellery is gold, a gold-accented celestial or emerald case reads intentional. Silver-toned wardrobe, silver zebra. It's the same logic as matching hardware on a bag.

Rule three: dress it for the season. Warm neutrals and cherry blossom in spring, watercolor pastels in summer, boho earth tones and browns in autumn, deep celestials and jewel tones in winter. Swapping a case is the cheapest wardrobe refresh there is.

The point isn't rules for their own sake — it's that the phone is already in the photo, so it may as well be part of the outfit. Build a small rotation the way you'd own more than one bag, and swap by mood.
