Should You Use A Phone Case At All?
The honest case for going caseless — and the four scenarios where a case is non-negotiable.
Modern iPhones and flagship Androids are designed to be used naked. Titanium frames, Ceramic Shield, Gorilla Victus — the materials are tougher than ever. So why use a case?
Arguments for going caseless
- Thinner, lighter, more comfortable in hand.
- You feel the design you paid $1,000+ for.
- Better thermals during long video calls or gaming.
When you should absolutely use one
- You drop your phone more than once a month.
- You plan to resell — back scratches kill resale value by 15–25%.
- You work outdoors, in a kitchen, or anywhere with hard floors.
- You have a titanium iPhone — fingerprints stain it instantly.
The middle path
Use a slim case (under 2mm of profile) with a strong raised lip. You get most of the protection without losing the design feel.
