Hard case vs silicone — which is better?
Short answer: a hybrid of both. Pure silicone is grippy and shock-absorbing but stretches and collects lint. Pure hard polycarbonate is slim and scratch-resistant but transmits more impact. A TPU + polycarbonate hybrid combines TPU corner cushioning with a rigid printed back — most people end up here.
Hard case or silicone — which is better?
Depends on what you want. Silicone is soft, grippy, and absorbs shock well, but it attracts lint, stretches over time, and drags in pockets. Hard cases (polycarbonate) are slim, scratch-resistant, and slide in and out of pockets cleanly, but they transmit more shock to the phone on impact. A hybrid case — rigid polycarbonate back with flexible TPU edges — gives you most of the upside of both: grip and shock absorption at the corners, slim feel and scratch resistance on the back.
Which protects better in a drop?
Silicone and TPU absorb more impact than rigid polycarbonate alone — soft materials flex on contact and spread force. But a hybrid TPU + polycarbonate case typically out-performs either pure material, because the TPU bumper handles the corner impact while the rigid back keeps the case from cracking or popping off.
Which feels better in your hand?
Silicone has a tactile, almost rubbery grip — some people love it, others find it sticky. Hard polycarbonate feels smooth and a bit slippery. Hybrid cases with a soft-touch matte coating land in between: grippy enough to feel secure, smooth enough to slide into a pocket.
What does Miarobi use?
Dual-layer hybrid — TPU bumper around the edges for shock absorption, polycarbonate back for the printed artwork and scratch resistance. It's the balanced everyday pick, not the softest grip or the rugged armor.
